Old Glory's program is designed for individuals from the four communities we serve who are able to participate consistently in our hands-on service dog training program.

Applicants Must Live Within 70 Miles

Because our program requires regular, in-person participation, applicants must live within 70 miles of our training location in Bunnell, Florida.

YOUR FIRST STEP

Do You Already Have a Dog?

You do not need to already have a dog to begin the Old Glory process. Your first step depends on whether you currently have a dog you would like considered for service dog training.

IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A DOG

Start With a Dog Evaluation

If you already have a dog that you would like to train as your service dog, your first step is to have the dog evaluated by Old Glory's training team.

The evaluation allows our trainers to meet you and your dog and determine whether the dog may be an appropriate candidate for service dog training before you move forward with the application.

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A DOG

Please Don't Go Get One Just to Apply

You can begin the Old Glory application process without already owning a dog. Please do not purchase or adopt a dog specifically for the program before speaking with us.

If you are accepted into the program and need a dog, Old Glory will work with you to help find a dog that may be appropriate for your individual needs and service dog training.

Already have a dog? Evaluation comes first. No dog? That's okay — talk with Old Glory before choosing one.

Your Path to Old Glory

We've designed our application process to help us get to know you, understand your needs, and determine how Old Glory may be able to support you.

IF YOU HAVE A DOG

Dog Evaluation

If you already have a dog, Old Glory's training team will evaluate the dog before you complete the application. If you do not have a dog, this step does not apply to you.

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF

Complete the Application

Complete the Old Glory membership application so we can learn more about you, your circumstances, and what you hope to accomplish through the service dog program.

MEET WITH OLD GLORY

Interview & Documents

The final step is an interview with Old Glory. This is when you will bring the required medical forms and documentation verifying the community you served in. Veterans should bring a copy of their DD214. Law Enforcement, Firefighters, and EMS Professionals should bring documentation that verifies their service or employment in that field. These documents are not required when you initially submit your application.

Important: You do not need to submit medical forms or service-verification documents with the initial application. Please bring the required medical forms and documentation verifying your service when you are scheduled for your interview.

WHAT MEMBERSHIP REQUIRES

What to Expect From the Program

Old Glory is a hands-on training program. Members are expected to take an active role in the process, attend training consistently, practice what they learn, and work with their service dog throughout the journey.

Attend & Participate

Consistent participation is an important part of building skills and progressing through the program. Members are expected to attend scheduled training and take an active role in each session.

Train Between Sessions

Progress happens outside of class too. Members are expected to practice the skills and techniques introduced during training so the dog and handler can continue developing together.

Communicate With the Team

Questions, challenges, and changes are part of the process. Members are encouraged to communicate with the training team so concerns can be addressed and support can be provided when needed.

Commit to the Journey

Service dog training takes time, patience, consistency, and teamwork. Old Glory provides training and support, but each member plays an essential role in the success of their own service dog partnership.

Joining Old Glory means becoming an active participant in the training process — not simply receiving a trained dog.
